On 16th September I was invited to a Girls Only Gaming Night by Belong Cardiff, the first girls-only event at Cardiff hosted by my good friend Kelly. Created so all gaming girls can hang out, eat a gross amount of pizza and to socialise and to hang out and meet other gaming girls in the city.
Honesty time: I’m a crap gamer. I’m hopeless when it comes to using the consoles as I haven’t learnt to use my disposable fingers properly. Luckily we had a mixture of console and PC games to try, but I do desperately want to learn how to use a console properly, so I gave it my best shot.
There were an array of games for us to play such as Overwatch and Fortnite but the games I test-drived were;
Dead by Daylight
My friend who joined me at this gaming event became addicted to this game!! Hearthstone is a fast-paced PC card game where have to use a copious amount of brain power in order to defeat your opponent. It’s all about strategy and it’s a hell of a lot of fun. I struggled with my last opponent and I gave up because I wanted to try out some other games but my friend was addicted!! She struggled defeating the Elf (I think it was an Elf) in the first batch of matches but once she did him there was no stopping her!
Another PC game that I couldn’t even get past the first minute! Honestly I didn’t have a clue what I was doing. The game was giving me instructions but I had no idea what the hell it wanted me to do! It’s a sci-fi game and, if played properly, should be a lot of fun but I just couldn’t get my head around it. Also I wasn’t really concentrating as I was too excited to play the next game!
Dead by Daylight
This was the only console game I played and I absolutely fell in love with it!!! Dead by Daylight is a multiplayer horror game where one player takes on the role as a savage killer while four other players play as survivors who try to escape the killer. My main problem with gaming is that I cannot turn to check me scenery when I’m playing a character. So when the killer was behind me I was actually looking up at the sky. I was utter crap. Wriggling out was also a pain in the ass because I couldn’t do it with just one hand. I died. A lot. But I had sooo much fun and it’s a game that I cannot wait to play again! Hopefully next time I can play it as a group and then we can strategise!
I had such a wicked time at this event and I honestly cannot wait for the next one. Kelly did a fantastic job hosting and thank you for the free pizza!! It was delicious!! I’ll make sure to play more console games next time.
