A day doesn’t go by without my housemate Katrin tagging me in an Instagram post that shows a really cute pin or a perverted patch. She’s an avid collector of pins and patches and it’s slowly starting to rub off me. It’s reached the point where I’ve specifically bought a denim vest just to display them. So far I’ve an eclectic patch pins and patches collection. Varying from cult movie characters to 19th century art.
Unfortunately with some pins and patches I’ve forgotten who I bought them from but you can buy some of the patches on etsy!
Dream of the Fisherman’s Wife patch
This was the first patch I bought when I started my collection and unfortunately I cannot recall which company I bought them from. The patch is the ‘Dream of the Fisherman’s Wife’ woodblock-printed design by Hokusai and was included in Kinoe no Komatsu which was three volume book on shunga erotica that was first publish in 1814. I first encountered this artwork whilst I was researching for my fetish photography project in University and I fell in love with it. The colours make it look so delicate.
Rick and Morty Clockwork Orange Pin
Again another pin I cannot remember who I bought it from (I’ve googled, honestly). I fell in love with it immediately. If you’ve been following my blog for a while you would know that I’m a huge Rick and Morty fan and the Clockowrk Orange iconic outfit is my go-to Halloween costume. Combining both into a Clockwork Orange Rick pin is amazing!!
I bought these at a Shounen Jump on my trip to Tokyo and they’re already on my pins and patches vest (as you can see). Gintama is one of my favourite animes around and I absolutely love the Soul Switching arc. Once I return to Tokyo I’ll probably purachse more from the Shounen Jump shop.
Gene from Bob Burgers – Loot Crate
Bobs Burgers is one of the best cartoon shows on my small screen. It’s funny, sweet and Linda is an absolute scream. I got this pin as one of my little gifts in the Loot Crate subscription box. His eyes are slightly terrifying. It’s like he’s looking into your soul.
Divine Pin – Bruised Ego
Who doesn’t love Divine?! The superstar behind most of John Water’s films Divine’s is one of the most iconic faces of cult cinema, her most famous quote being ‘Filth are my politics, Filth is my life!’ The pin is vibrant in colour and well detailed for such a cute tiny little pin!
Tortured Artist and cheeky Patch and Pin – Moon & Bear
I love the pin because it describes me perfectly, a tortured artist. I’m in a job that I hate and I’m so poor I cannot afford to financially support my dream of owning my own store and creating products from my floral photography, a tortured soul. Everyone loves a good cheeky patch and I absolutely love the colour. Can’t wait to add it to my vest!!
If you know any other pins and patches shop I should look at, leave a comment below!
