The weather in Wales has been the best it’s ever been and I’m trying to make the most of it. Back in April I stayed at Dan’s house and it turns out we were not the only guests!! Dan’s niece and nephew were also staying at his house!! We all decided that on the Sunday we would teach the little sprogs how to bake (and when I say ‘we’ I mean Dan’s mother).

First we decided to bake some brownies. We added the brownie mix to the big bowl and has soon as we were the kids were on that brownie mix!!! They literally licked the utensils clean!! I didn’t even get a chance near that goddam brownie mix!! Next we decided to make cupcakes. Now Dan’s mother’s method of cooking is, quite frankly my favourite method: Just guess. Unlike my mother who follows the recipe, Jackie just second guesses everything. You might think the cupcakes might not taste nice but they were delicious!!

We decided to add icing to the top of our cakes. Any baker would know that you only add a tiny bit of food colouring. Dan’s mam even told us to add a tiny tiny bit of food colouring. Tayen added the whole bottle in. He chose red food colouring. His cupcakes were blood red!!!

The springtime was thoroughly enjoyable in Wales and even though I had major post Tokyo blues, the vitamin D from the sun made me feel 100x times better. I even went for my first tanning session this year too. The tanning machines are incredibly cheap and easy to use. I’m quite tempted to visit at least twice a week to work up a base for high summer!!
