On October 19th Dan and I went on our first cruise together on board P&O’s new cruise ship the ‘Britannia’, which is the biggest ship from the company, and it’s an absolute BEAST!!
We were on board the ship for 12 days. The first day on sea is always the worst and felt myself suffering from slight sea sickness but nothing like a bit of shopping with their myriads of designer brands to take my mind off my constant stomach lurching. With a choice of about 11/12 restaurants we were spoilt for choice when it came to our food. With the average person putting on at least 14 pounds (I know, ridiculous isn’t it) when they go on a cruise I was pleased that I could work off a tiny bit of this off on the ships gym, which overlooked the beautiful blue sea! Being on the treadmill did not help with my sea sickness though.
With three swimming pools to choose from we were slightly spoilt for choice on which one Dan and I should use but the children had claimed one pool for themselves so we opted for the ‘adult’ pool, and before your mind starts racing with some seedy imagery, what I mean is it was the pool for adults, not one little tyke. The pools were quite warm too, I think there must have been some heat being generated into the pool…somehow…
Anyway… back to the food, we didn’t over-indulge (well, I indulged enough to put 5 pounds on), but we did treat ourselves to some glorious 4 course meals, all of which I took photos of. The food on board the ship will have it’s own separate post, since it needs to be appreciated in all it’s glory!! After our meals we had many different options on how we could spend the rest of the night.
Our options were; seeing a stage show performed by the Britannia headliners cast, they performed some great shows!!! The stages visual effects were outstanding!! Or we could go to the cinema, we watched a few films in the ships cinema including ‘In The Heart of the Sea’, which is absolutely brilliant, ‘X-Men Apocalypse, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie which was fabulous sweetie darling! On some nights we just wanted a quiet night so all four of us headed to The Crows Nest and played some card games before we parted ways retired to bed.
In our cabins we, of course had television which had selected movies and TV shows. They had some great movie choices including 22 Jump Street as well as What We Do In the Shadows. Television Shows included Wild Japan, which showed the nature of Japan with some stunning cinematography!!
My most memorable moment of the whole cruise? Relaxing in the jacuzzi with Dan whilst watching the sun setting of the Mediterranean sky!! Pure perfection and bliss!!
We went to six separate places which were; Gibraltar, Cartagena, Mallorca, Barcelona, Seville and Lisbon. Each one will have it’s own separate post and….VIDEO!! Yes, we are going to enter the vlogging universe!! I can’t wait to start editing and putting my little memories on Youtube!!
