Blissful Bakes is a tea room and cake situated in Pontardawe, Swansea. I’ve never been there before so I was really excited to go and since it was my cousin Victoria’s hen party I was even more excited since I haven’t seen her in years. Not only were we to have tea and cake but we were also going to be taught how to decorate our cakes and design ribbons and what not. Now I know I’m not housekeeper material, in my relationship the boy does the cooking and cleaning while I write the blog posts, review the films and contact the companies, so I saw this as my eye opener on how crap I was going to be.

From the outside, Blissful Bakes looks like a twt place that only holds 5-6 tables if lucky but then when you go upstairs it’s absolutely massive! I like Doctor Who’s phone box. The room is decorated like some Kawaii lover’s dream. It’s all pink and pretty and cute and girly. I absolutely love the decor, it’s very feminine.

Once all the guests arrived we sat down for afternoon tea. While everyone else had tea I chose Green Tea. I’ve never liked the taste of tea, unless I’m dunking biscuits in it. We had cucumber sandwiches, cheese sandwiches and also ham and we were definitely spoilt for choice when it came to desserts. The main cake was pistachio and rose flavour and it was scrumptious. We also had a small cake each, I got myself a toffee caramel cupcake while my mother had a fairy cake. Everyone was sitting, eating and having a good ol’ natter.

Once we finished devouring our cakes we headed downstairs to the kitchen where we were given an hours session on decorating cakes. The first attempt was to create a rose pattern on our sponges. It took me three attempts to get the damn thing to look like a rose and even then it looked like it was wilting (memo to self: learn to ice cupcakes). Our second task was to design a ribbon to go on top of our icing. You can predict how it turned out for me, I mean I couldn’t do a damn rose let alone a ribbon however saying that it was the best out of the two. Of course my mother knew exactly what she was doing and her cakes looked amazing. Here are the image of the cakes my mother and I made, which ones do you think I did? Comment below with your answer.
