Statement handbags are everywhere at the moment. Every shop you go you will now see a quirky edgy handbag that’s calling your name, and as you can see from the above image, they’ve been calling my name here, there and everywhere. From Milk cartons to tropical fish I have every statement bag under the sun and obviously I will be purchasing more!!
You will now see big name stores such as Marks & Spencers and John Lewis jumping on the band wagon and producing statement bags (both parties have decided to go with ‘smiley faces’) but obviously their aiming for an older generation, these bags here and for the young ‘uns like yourself and I. Here are some of my favourite statement handbags from my collection
Milk Carton Bag – Skinny Dip
Skinny Dip is one of my favourite London stores and I had always fancied myself a Milk Carton Bag. I’ll be honest, when I saw some of my favourite french bloggers blogging about them I instantly fell in love, and when I found out that they sold them in Topshop I was over the moon. Of course the bag did come in blue and lilac (unfortunately when I just checked the website for links it seemed that they’ve run out of stock, sorry guys) and there is plenty of room for all your night out necessities.
I feel slightly downhearted that I cannot share a link for this Milk Carton Bag however here are a few of my other favourite Skinny Dip Clutch Bags that may be up your street.
Tropical Fish Bag – Skinny Dip
Another Skinny Dip gem that I picked up on my recent trip to London town and when it was on sale (winning). I love the vibrance of this bag, it’s all neon and in-your-face and it’s just me. It’s not too over the top so it won’t get the plain Jane’s and the judgemental Nancy’s gawking and whispering but regardless you cannot deny the fact that this is certainly a statement bag! Unfortunately they do not stock this clutch bag with this colouring anymore HOWEVER, DO NOT FRET as they have in yellow/black which I think is a bigger statement than mine!
(Update: The black/yellow fish is no longer available)
Kawaii Coin Purse – Shop Jeen
Of course Shop Jeen would be appearing in this post, it’s one of my favourite shops and for Christmas Danny boy surprised my with the super adorable kawaii purse! Look at it’s adorable face?! Look at it’s cute little rainbow years!! It’s such a kawaii little thing! Again, it pains me to say this but it seems Shop Jeen do not stock this purse anymore and the only shop that I know who does I will not promote anymore due to the fact they steal work from independent artists, so like I did above I shall share links of some of the other statement bags that I have fallen in love with on Shop Jeen.
Wow Bag – Accessorize
What is there not to like about this bag?! I mean it has everything you could possibly want for a statement bag. It has little key chains on it, neon colouring, patches and it’s lilac!! I love it!!! It looks very similar to some of Skinny Dips clutch bags. Not the type of bag you would usually find in Accessorize.
Going Out Out Bag – Dorothy Perkins
Not only is this bag cute and simply with it’s design, it’s also completely practical. The bag is big enough for your house keys, perfume, make up bag, card holder, purse and mobile phone as a disposal camera (my usual night out necessities). The only thing that makes this bag my least favourite out of all of these statement bags is the fact that it does not have a strap. I’m not one for carrying a bag around in my hand all night, I find it to be a pain in the ass. Unfortunately they do not sell this bag anymore, but here are some of my other favourites from Dorothy Perkins.
