Patisserie Valerie is one of my favourite confectionary places!! Since it’s opening, my mother and I usually meet there for a coffee and a catch up whenever she’s in town. Most of the time when we meet up we only have cake and then move on to more important things like shopping but this time round Aunty Susan was in town so we decided to have a proper meal there.

The location of Patisserie Valerie is quite open. It’s not in any building and if you want some piece and quiet, and need some time away from prying eyes then I’m afraid that is quaint little confectionary Heaven is not the place for you. Everyone can see what your doing so you might feel that everyone knows your business, sometimes you’ll have people you certainly do not want to see walking past, and it can be a daunting experience.

Savoury – Tuna and Cucumber Sandwich
Sometimes, a light and simple lunch is exactly what the Doctor ordered and Patisserie Valerie offers a variety of sandwiches; from tomato and cheese to tuna and cucember, they stock up on the usual classics. I opted for the Tuna and Cucumber roll since I had already decided what I wanted for dessert so I needed something that would at least leave some room.

Savoury – Parma Ham Flatbread
My Aunty chose the Parma Ham flatbread, all of us thought it sounded quite interesting. It looked delicious but I never had the chance to taste since it wasn’t my lunch in the first place.

Savoury – Quiche Lorraine
My mother chose Patisserie Valerie’s Quiche Lorraine which is tiny compared to the lunch Aunty and I had, however my mother has a very rich dessert coming up (but more on that later). I have a love/hate relationship with quiche. I’ll go through a phase where I find it so yummy and then other days, not so much. This was one of those ‘not so much’ days. Mam loves quiche and thoroughly enjoyed the one they stock in Patisserie Valerie.

Dessert – Strawberry Slice
My mother loves and I mean LOVES this cake!! I for one, am not a huge fan. I hate the feeling of sponge and fruit mixed together, eugh!! It’s too much going on for my. Luckily with and Patisserie Valerie desserts you get your money’s worth. At the beginning we thought they had given us two cakes!!

Dessert – Mille Feuille
Let me explain to you how AMAZING the Mille Feuille from Patisserie Valerie is, as I’m typing I’m currently devouring one with not an ounce of regret!! The Mille Feuille is soo creamy and perfect!! It’s absolutely massive too!! I wish it had a tad bit more icing but regardless, it’s perfect as it is!
