Christmas Portfolio – Christmas Lights

Every year on Christmas Eve my father and I will drive around the town looking for the house with the most over-the-top Christmas Lights we can find.

When I was younger there was a street in Morfa where they use to raise money for the local Air Force Unit in Wales and every house would partake in donning the most garish  Christmas lights around and I absolutely loved it!! Cars would line up just to get a glimpse of this little street and their people who would come to your car with their charity bucket and hand you sweets, it was so sweet and we used to go every year, but recently that doesn’t happen anymore, le sigh. The cost became too expensive which is no surprising since the lights filled every crevice of their homes so they had to put a stop to it, however I wasn’t expecting the whole place to look so bare when I returned a week ago. I really wanted to show you guys the ‘go big or go home attitude’ some Llanelli residents have but we went searching and searching and searching and we found nothing, absolutely nothing well for a while anyway, we found one or two but they were…well you see the photos, their no Morfa you know what I mean?

I love seeing over-the-top Christmas lights, I mean some of them look so tacky and I just love my tacky rubbish!! One of my favourite Christmas light decoration is probably the lights that resemble raindrops, they always look so pretty, especially in silver and gold. I’m not a big fan of the colour purple as a Christmas light decoration, or blue for that matter, they always looks heavy and cold.

I can imagine what my house will be when I get my own property!! It’ll have baby pink raindrop lighting with a small lit up penguin in the front garden. obviously bring it in just in case someone steals it, I’m not having anyone stealing my light up penguin!! Looking at all these Christmas Lights and everyone decorating the houses had made me really want to settle down and get my own place, none of this renting run down places but a nice, clean minimalist place where I can hoard all my rubbish and figurine, oh and Dan can live there too, if he wants.

Like I said I did find some houses but they were not as impressive but I hope you enjoy the images regardless!!

xoxo
