I’d be surprised if you haven’t tried Yo Sushi. They can be found in most Metropolitan cities and we do have one in Cardiff too but we went there because we were in a hurry and we needed somewhere that was fast and cheap so Yo Sushi was our best option.

Most of the food is already on the conveyer belt that usually fills most of the shop but if you fancy something that isn’t on the belt you order and it usually takes about 2-5 minutes to make, depending on what you ordered.

The food is presented in different coloured plates and each colour is a different price, green being the cheapest and yellow being the most expensive dish. I’ve never tried a yellow one I’ve always found them to be too dear for my wallet, I usually stick to the orange, purple, pink and blue. Again, the green dishes, just like the yellow doesn’t really tickle my fancy (oo-er).

Because I knew in my head I was to write a review I made sure I would try dishes that I’ve never tasted before. I usually get 5 dishes maximum and I never sumo size my food…anymore… so I shall now show you which dishes my taste buds succumbed to.

Spicy Chicken Roll
A safe option but one that never disappoints! Coated in spice this chicken can be quite hot, depending how you handle spicy food. For someone who can only have a Korma as an Indian dish I sometimes find this dish slightly too hot, sometimes, it may look tiny but the rice makes it quite filling.

Chicken Katsura Curry
This is one of those dishes that you’ll have to order and they’ll make it fresh. The last time I had this dish Dan and I opted for the sumo dish which costs £8 and it’s 3x the size of the little pink dish, and we couldn’t finish it and I’ve never had since. The curry sauce is like the curry sauce you would have at your local chip shop, very sweet very bad for you and tastes absolutely amazing!! This another rice heavy dish and bloats the hell out of you too!

Pumpkin Katsura
This is a new dish for me!! Exciting times eh?! I’ve never tried Pumpkin before, I didn’t know what it would taste like, it’s texture or anything so I was really curious on whether it would taste nice or not. I loved it. It has become one of my favourite dishes! To be honest I don’t think risk it and order a pumpkin dish in any other establishment because I like dish so much I don’t want to ruin it for myself, as selfish as that sounds. Very savoury, not too filling but it’s tastes absolutely delicious!!

Furi Furi Fries (Limited Edition)
The reason I chose the furi furi fries is because you can enter the Yo Sushi competition where you can win a trip to Japan!! If you’ve been following my blog you would know that I’m heading for a month stay in Japan and if I can win a trip there that would be amazing, it would be like a taste tester for when I stay there for such a long period. Unfortunately I didn’t win (yet) but I’m still glad I chose them since they were so nice!! They come with a really nice seasoning. I shall definitely be having these again.

Kimchee Salmon Steamed Bun
You will never find softer bread than this steamed bun. It has the melt in your mouth affect and it’s heavenly to eat. I’ve had one before in Wagamama’s but that had pulled pork. I wanted to see if it’s just as nice with fish. I have to be honest and say that I prefer it with a meat filling, this was a sight disappointment for me. I just didn’t taste nice with fish, they shouldn’t be mixed however the sauce was beautiful. I would still have it again because the bread is so nice.

You can see the Yo Sushi menu here

I shall be writing more Yo Sushi articles in the future since there are so many dishes to try and since they change and add dishes I’ll be able to taste new exciting dishes that homage my favourite culture.

Until next time

xoxo
