Here is the second half of my comic con gift haul, as you can see from the image above this post if focusing mainly on the art pieces I gathered from various local artists who had stalls there, as well as my favourite purchase at Comic Con. If I had the money I would’ve bought more than I did, there was some amazing talent there. Hopefully they’ll be back in March where I shall definitely buy more, only problem is that I have nowhere to showcase them.
I’ve started a little collection from artists of the girls the depict at the beginning of the year, I refer to it as ‘my girl gang’ collection because their insanely kick ass looking girls created some awesome female artists. Their style will all be different and I don’t buy from the same artists twice, I want to broaden my collection. Some of the pieces fitted my collection perfectly and they need to be seen.
I decided to purchase Petitecreme’s lucky dip for £5 where I would get 6 of her works but you don’t know which one you’ll receive. I fell in love with two of her pieces but I couldn’t afford the big prints so I took my chances and went with the lucky dip. I’m very much glad that I did. Not only did I manage to get the two prints that I wanted (score!) but I also got an awesome witch print as well as a really cute waitess/maid print which is pastel and pink!! I love the pieces so much! You should give the artists a look and buy her work.
I fell in love with these pieces the moment I saw them. I knew my housemate Katrin would fall in love with these immediately and they would be perfect for my girls gang collection. Her work has such attitude and they look so Kawaii. I fell love with their hair as well as the mask, it suits my personal tastes and my likes. I know I said above that I would not buy from the same artist twice but here I might just make an exception.
I’ve always wanted a mask. I was going to wait for when I went to Tokyo but when I saw these I just couldn’t resist and since it says seme I thought it would be perfect for me. For those who don’t know Seme is a term used in Yaoi manga along with Uke (they also had Uke masks too, I was going to get one for Dan but I thought the joke would be lost on him). Right my mother reads my blog so bare with as I explain the terms. The term ‘Seme’ is used for the guy…erm…who..takes the lead role (sometimes) and then the uke follows the lead. There we go, not as hard as I thought. Due to my excitement of finding these I forgot to grab a card from the stall however I saw they were being sold in many stalls so they must be easy to find online.
And last but not least….
Hijikata Toushirou and Okita Sougo Figurines!!
I knew before I even and booked the tickets for Comic Con that I was going to purchase a figurine or two and since there were soo many it was hard to choose from. I went there thinking I would purchase a Gohan figurine or even Gintoki but when I saw these two I knew I wouldn’t find them anywhere else. They come as a set of four and form a circle, missing from my circle is Kagura and Gintoki but (touch wood) they might have the other two in the next comic con. I love these two as a pair, they’re probably two of my favourite characters in the show. Their stance suited them. Assembling them (especially Hijikata) was a pain in the arse!! Took 15 minutes to slot Toushirou’s sword into place but worth it though. They look great on my figurine stand.
And there you have it, all my gifts from comic con, until the next con!!
