Halloween is just around the corner and it’s one of my favourite Holidays!!! It’s always pleasant to see the children dressed as witches and ghouls, going door to door with their little bag of sugary treasures!! I also love seeing images of Tokyo during Halloween which is the time I shall be going next year (SQUEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!).
I never celebrated Halloween when I was younger, my parents didn’t ‘believe’ in it but I’ve made up for it when I was in University. In my first year, I went as a Visual Kei artist with white out eyes and everything!! I looked terrifying. But since then I found a costume that suits me well and is always within my budget. I’m not going to reveal to you what the costume is since I’m wearing it this year too, instead I want to give you some Halloween inspiration and some characters I wish I could dress up as, if I had the time and links if you fancy dressing up as them too!
I’ve said this for a while now but I would love (whether it’s Comic Con or Halloween), I would love to dress as Vegeta. He is one of my favourite anti-heroes going and the costume wouldn’t be that hard to create (and when I mean wouldn’t be that hard I didn’t mean the armour and when I mean to create I mean for someone else to create for me). It’s times like this I wish I took up design and textiles. If 14 year old me could see that future me is a tiny bit more confident to do this I’m pretty sure she would be sewing and learning night and day!!
Tiffany from ‘Bride of chucky’
Next year, next year, when I’m living it up in Tokyo at Halloween I’m definitely dressing up as Tiffany!! Eyebrows and everything no matter how stupid I look!! I love her!! She is my favourite female villain around and Jennifer Tilly’s voice was just perfect, if Dan joins me in Tokyo maybe I can convince him to be Chucky!! How cute and naff would that be?!
Again, another character you would love to hate but you just cannot!! He’s too damn awesome!! I also love his costume too, Simple to make or to buy and also I’ll get my own samurai sword too! I’m pretty sure you can buy the costume somewhere but it’s probably very expensive.
Another Gintama character that I’ve considered gender bending as a Halloween costume. I already have a dakimakura and a wall scroll of this so I may as well take my obsession up a notch to dress like him and also if I’m honest I just want to carry around a samurai sword, even if it’s made of plastic.
My spirit animal and one of my favourite cartoon characters. If I were to dress up as Jane Lane I would Catrin by my side so she could go as Daria. She has the hair for it. Her costume can be easily bought, even her signature white line on the collar t-shirt can be bought online too. all you really need is some doc martens, a red jacket and some shorts and tights, maybe even a sketchbook to complete the look.
You have to create Jane Lane’s costume from scratch I’m afraid
I have always imagined myself on Halloween night stepping out with snake eye eye-contacts, a lush dress and snakes in my hair, painted green head to toe. Medusa story is my favourite of the three gorgons of Greek Mythology. You can be her costume online but they look cheap and tack. I’d rather do it myself.
You can purchase a Medusa Costume here (but personally I would make my own)
And here you have it guys, my costume inspo for Halloween 2015. Please leave a comment and tell me who you’re going as for Halloween!!
