Ibiza is such a beautiful that exploring the area was a must do on my list!! We visited the same places for most of the week, those places being San Antonio and Old Ibiza, not that I’m complaining, those places were beautiful. We spent most of the daytime in San Antonio where the wedding was held (NEXT ARTICLE!!!!!) and spend the night in Old Ibiza town where we drank in so many bars, all of which were insanely expensive. Taxi rides were rinsing my wallet like no tomorrow. A taxi ride cost €60 back and forth from the hotel so as you can see a lot of our money went on that.
For this article I shall be focusing on San Antonio.
San Antonio was a heaven, there were people of all ages wearing whatever the hell they wanted, I remember we saw a old man, probably in his late 60’s, chilling on the beach wearing nothing but a leopard print pouch. Words can’t really describe the image we all saw. He wasn’t the only one dressed as nature intended with nothing to cover his modesty than a tiny pouch, there were plenty of seniors rocking it. They were everyone. That fashion statement is not etched in my mind. I hope it doesn’t catch on elsewhere.
We had already decided before we arrived at our destination that we were going to take a Jet boat ride around Ibiza. The boat holds ten of us and it’s only myself and Sam’s mother who attend with the lads. We are made to wear safety gear (mind gone into panic) and we placed in our seats ( I also would like to point out that we are all wearing our swimming gear). After that we took our seats and were told the instructions. The boat was going to do 360 and also stop to a halt, at first I misheard the instructor completely and I thought he said we would fly in the air and crash into the water, which I’m not going to lie didn’t sound pleasant at all. After a good 10 minute talk explaining to me how the boat can not fly in the air I was slightly more relaxed for the fun ahead. After a 5 minute wait our driver arrived. He was nuts, or very high, one or the other but fun nonetheless.
The boat ride was amazing!!! Such good fun! We were taken all around Ibiza caves which were beautiful, you looked over the boat you could the sand underneath the crystal blue ocean. The jellyfish were swimming quite happily underneath us. It was peaceful serene and romantic…until the driver started howling at a party boat of girls and we were pulled back to reality. Then came the dreaded halt, the driver gave us a 5 sec warning and we emergency stopped in the ocean. Water flew over the boat and soaked us through. There was salt water in my mouth, snot running down my nose and mascara running down my cheeks. I tried to clean myself and slung whatever I could over the side of the boat; salt water, snot anything…unfortunately my ladylike behaviour was caught on tape and is all over Facebook. The price you pay for wanting to look decent.
After that adrenaline rush we were all pretty hungry so we headed to the La Cantina Portmany where I opted for a chicken noodles and prawn crackers. The food was lovely but nothing I’ve never had before, the noodles were very greasy and I thought I was just being snobby but turns out a lot of people found that the noodles in Ibiza were a bit too greasy, it wasn’t nice to have my face covered in grease, they just felt slimy.
We then headed back to Sal Rossa to chill at the beach because the next day was the big day… ALLAN AND SAM’S WEDDING!!!
