Yes!! Finally!! The time has come for me to sail away from my box room of a house to the sun sand and parties that is Ibiza!!! However, I’m not going there just to chill and catch a tan oh no, I’m there as a photographer for one of my closest friend Sam’s wedding!! After two years of planning Sam is finally marrying his partner for six years Allan and no one is as quite excited as I am.
We leave my apartment at midnight and arrive at Bristol Airport at two in the morning, there is no sign of the grooms or anyone else. I give a quick text around half 2 only to receive a reply at 3. They’ve just woken up. Clearly I planned this way too well but better to be super early rather than super late. Once we arrive we’re introduced to Annie and Arron both of whom are good friends of the grooms. We check in and two hours later we’re flying and heading to our destination. I’m not going to lie I’m slightly anxious. When I think Ibiza the first thought that comes to mind is chavvy bars, gross stag do’s and just drunk people picking fights with each other. Over the next few days I’m pleasantly surprised to find none of the sort, I mean of course there is an occasional stag do but their being respectful. Clearly the portrayal of Ibiza within in the media is slightly biased in a sense, I thought it would be scummy and run down with idiots but it’ pleasant, relaxing and so much fun. Everyone is here to enjoy and to party not to fight and drink themselves silly.
We arrive at the hotel and we’re introduced to Scott and Campbell who have been together for 21 years!! Scot is the best man and both men are incredibly friendly, Dan and I are already feeling at ease in their company and we enjoy getting to know them over the coming days. Everyone was incredibly friendly, Annie and Arron looked after us nicely too, always knocking on our door and making sure we were included, everyone did. We never felt left out and never felt like we weren’t part of the group and we will always be grateful for their warm hospitality.
The hotel. How can I describe this hotel kindly….well…think of it as Alton Towers…..in Ibiza??? Basically it was like setting foot in Alton Towers abroad, Everyone working there was rude and seemed to hate their work. It angered me slightly because if I served customers in my workplace like that I would be disciplined no question. Any location that were near the hotel also seemed to feed off their rudeness, we went to a cafe called Ibiza Jet and they were horrible, I mean horrible horrible people, I just felt like giving them a big tight hug until they let it all out!! The best thing about the hotel was the pool and the fact the beach were two steps down, literally you walk across the poolside and take a step or two down and your feet touch sand i was amazing and perfect. We had a party hotel right next door which played music all through the night.
I would carry on but the next post is on Allan’s birthday meal which is what happens next…TBC!!!
