In the words of Bart Simpson “What a beautiful day Milhouse, the sun is shining, the birds are singing, bees are trying to have sex with them…as it’s to my understanding” and also, what Bart missed out, the flowers are blooming and they look blooming lovely (subtle flower pun, well, not subtle) and it gave me an excuse to take my camera out and capture some floral photography.
I’ve never taken images outside of the Botanics before but it made a nice change of scene definitely. I’m planning on going back there and taking more images for a mini August portfolio. We have also have another park which is very close to my new house so I’m planning on going there too to take some floral imagery.
I would like to one day to take some floral photography in florists (if I can find a florist that’ll help me). After doing the wedding images (see articles here, here and here) and I think I’ll have to expand my portfolio to include images taken inside in front of backdrops as well as focusing on a floral cycle (starting from seedling, to flower, to death), I think it would be a really interesting subject matter to take and will make a nice three picture story. If all goes well with that I can print them up, build a physical portfolio and take around some galleries, maybe even the Botanics themselves whose gallery focuses primarily on Floral art (because, you know, it’s a massive greenhouse surrounded by flowers).
So much I want to achieve, so little patience to take my time with it.
