“When in doubt, change it to black and white”
Here I am giving you my wisdom on photography editing. If you love the image but not impressed with the colour it has produced, change it to black and white. I have so many images from this wedding that tell a story; from the fathers first glimpse of his daughter in her wedding dress to couples dancing on the dance floor, all great images, composed well within the frame (even if I say so myself), shame about the lighting and colour ruining everything!!!
When something like this happens to one of my images I always, ALWAYS(!) change it to black and white first and usually it looks ten times better and a lot more professional. Of course, I didn’t want all my images to be in black and white. In order to build a portfolio I had to produce images in colour too which you can view in my first article. But there is no denying that black and white does bring something to an image. Black and white photography reminds me a lot of documentary photography and from viewing my images I can see that any image that I’ve changed to black and white is usually shot in the style of documentary photography.
I hope you enjoy my images and I hope you enjoyed viewing my first wedding photography posts. Hopefully there shall be more weddings to come!!
